Anyone want to talk about The Tick? I recently watch the amazon show and though the first season was pretty great. Season 2 was one of the biggest downgrades in storytelling I've seen in a TV show though. Are the cartoon or the Patrick Warburton show worth watching?

Harry Partridge Anonymous 08/14/2020 (Fri) 03:30:23 No. 3837 [Reply]
Harry Partridge has released a new animation today. Give it a watch to show some support. Youtube animation hasn't exactly been a viable thing for years now & this project is very well done for something so short. TRILBY DOGTOOTH VS. THE SNAPPERCHAP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2HtmYmU0vQ
1 post omitted.
>>3837 Interesting idea, good animation. It seems more fit for a movie than a series though, with the whole premise being there are no more dangerous monsters besides the mystery creature. There wouldn't be much tension if most monsters of the week are harmless, and you can't keep using the one serious threat without making it seem weak if Trilby defeats it time after time.
I liked it and I was pretty surprised to see that Harry is still around. The art and animation were enjoyable to the eyes. The setup for the story was neat, and it left me interested for more. >>3864 >There wouldn't be much tension if most monsters of the week are harmless A way around this is to have the hand monster be the first of a series of deadly monsters that start appearing. >you can't keep using the one serious threat without making it seem weak if Trilby defeats it time after time That would be true if the hand monster is the sole threat. If a greater threat is spawning threats, then the series could follow the monster of the week format. >movie rather than series I would agree if the hand monster is the big bad. A way around this is to make the creature more of a mystery by having the hand monster be a transforming monster. Trilby would have to deduce the monster's identity and lair before it has a chance to fulfill its goal. >>3852 Trilby's bemoaning felt a bit exaggerated. However, I could see it getting tiring if it becomes his defining characteristic.
>>4386 You'd be pretty whiny too if your whole calling in life was worth less than an exterminator.

ITT: We will be making a cartoon and a video game. Anonymous 08/10/2020 (Mon) 04:58:29 No. 3657 [Reply]
The background story is this: It's 1950-1955, According to urban legends, all across the planet, all sort of people begin to behave strangely with seemingly no cause. They form into secretive groups with other people, including those they knew and complete strangers to hold secret meetings where they spoke to each other in a strange alien language with no known earthly origin, according to the theories, they all spoke the exact same language at these meetings even when in completely different countries.. They seemingly begin to focus on infecting people and non-humans of all species with some disease they all carry, which seems to be the origin of their strange behaviors, converting the successfully infected to their numbers and causing them also attend these meetings and speak this language without any lesson or direction. To make things worse, there are reports that animals all around the world are also going crazy at the same time, it seems the infection also applies to all non-human species, and those infected also develop a single-minded drive to infect other living things, while preparing to attack those who could not be infected. The infected people were later fond to have been focusing on arming themselves in secret, stockpiling weapons, armor, and supplies for a violent takeover. As soon as these legends begin to become well known and confirmed as being true, the infected turn hostile, they begin killing the uninfected with hesitance or remorse, but instead with perverse glee at the suffering of their victims. All of the victims were among those who did not attend those groups, again, just as with their allies, it seemed not to matter if their victims were people they knew well or didn't know at all. It's now 1960, exactly 5 years after this event first took place, we now know that there is indeed some pathogen that alters the behavior and personality of the infected, and that most of the uninfected population that remains, the minority of the world, are immune, and that the infected are seeking out those whose sanity has not left them in order to visit all sorts of unspeakable fates upon them, the worst the infected could imagine doing to their victims and still think they could get away with, is commonly the best predictor for what they will do.

>>3419 Thanks for the storytime Anon.
(1.09 MB 1000x667 ClipboardImage.png)

Thanks for the storytime. Comic was a bit mediocre, but it is clear that it is made by Slavs. They do try to Hollywood things a bit, but people do not have silly "Eastern European" names, and it is overall more authentic than most portrayals of Russia that are commonly seen. >>3390 >Knowledge of russian prisons I know a bit about Soviet satellite states' prisons, but Russian ones are most likely very similar. "Room" they are in is in fact a commie equivalent of the prison yard. It is covered from walls or wings of prison from all four sides. If you look up through ceiling grates, you can see the sky. Ground has tiles or concrete so prisoners do not carry mud everywhere else on rainy days. Usually there is another bigger outer yard with actual sports fields and various equipment. This smaller yard is meant to be used for short walks during the day and as a gathering place for announcements. However it is a perfect place for a smoke too - usually close to cells, under open sky, walls provide cover from wind, more cozy and private than large yard etc. Larger outer yards tend to be much further and guards are more numerous and vigilant over there. As to why they are left alone, it's for few reasons. These smaller yards often have only one exit and are easily accessible by guards. That means that if something goes down, enough guards to contain it can be there quickly to contain the situation. Besides that, European prisons have less guard presence than American ones and tend to be more peaceful. For example, different prisoner factions tend to be more diplomatic and generally tend to share facilities with one another. Rape also isn't a thing in post-commie prisons. In fact, if you try to rape another prisoner, you are considered a faggot, no one wants to associate with you, people will steal your food and belongings, and you become a target of all kings of abuse. Guards will hate you too. Only being a pedo is worse.

Be honest, are the Gene Deitch/Chuck Jones T&J cartoons really that bad? Anonymous 07/26/2020 (Sun) 11:20:49 No. 3175 [Reply]
Maybe it's because I'm a commie, but I honestly liked all of the cartoons from both post-MGM era's. Granted, the Classics will never be topped, but I think people give too much shit to the other ones, even today. Anybody else agree? P.S. R.I.P. >>3175 They are fine, I really liked "T&J cartoon kit" and I think it's one of the bests shorts of T&J, the thing is Deitch shorts are popular because for different reasons why the original MGM shorts got popular, they are radically different from the source material. >>3176 I've read they weren't liked a lot at the time they aired, but I haven't seen anyone complaining about them online. >>3183 >Dietch >Ugliest era Clearly you haven't seen the second hanna barbera era.

I just wish more people gave it the attention it deserves. It doesn't exactly need a conclusion right now, but at the same time they could've squeezed just a little bit more out of it. I just wish they had an awesome out-of-the-blue crossover with a random franchise (that's NOT slightly modified to avoid lawsuits).

I'm willing to give it a chance solely because even the worst of Aardman is enjoyable to watch. They specialise in being timeless with whatever they make.
>>3056 They are cashing in on name recognition and nostalgia. It is easier to market and sell something people are already familiar with rather than starting from scratch. That's why marketing relies on things like starpower of the people behind the movies or series too. Tying product to something audience is familiar with and enjoys is a very safe way to boost revenue.

This was probably more out of the necessity that we live in an era where more and more kids are anti-smokers (I know I am, considering my mother finally quit after 20 years of addiction). Granted, it's pretty stupid logic when the character you portray is from the 30's (even more-so ironic considering kids as young as 6 smoked frequently back then). But that in itself indicates that maybe it was a good thing it wasn't left in the hands of Producers who "know what the kids want".
