Reddit and Memy 4: Even more cuckoldry this time. Anonymous 05/30/2020 (Sat) 08:36:09 No. 1553
Before the season ends a quick thread on this shit might be good to have. I used to like Reddit and Memey, and Justin himself I believe browsed the place, it used to be entertaining despite it's Reddit qualities. It's gone downhill since I believe but I guess a reviews in order. >These people still can't schedule properly. >More or less fuck you to fans. >Blatantly don't give a shit about their own show. Season 4 I think makes this clear. not just with episode 6 being them giving a fuck you to the fanbase for caring enough to constantly write out every single theory before they can, with the little monologue at the end about consumerism bad. Rather than episode 8 proves these people don't really give a shit about the show, I mean we knew Evil Morty was already just a written singular episode that was expanded on later but this one just takes the cake. Morty finds love to the point where he willingly doesn't reload a save point to get himself out of a plane crash, and uses his actual intellect to survive, his girlfriend had more character development in 3 seconds than Jessica did in 4 seasons, she even comes back at the end of the episode and tries stopping him before he fake kills himself. The writer responsible for this reveals the whole thing was a joke and we'll never see her again. This makes sense because Dan Harmon said they'd be using a more loose writing style where the jokes make the plot and not the other way around. The problem is this basically means whatever investment there might have been in the show is thrown down the shitter. I mean at this point Danny Phantom has better continuity, Johnny test has better continuity, Tom and Jerry has better continuity. The worst part is this will only make things worse. I think both Justin and Dan realize something's wrong with newer seasons. That's because 1 and 2 were lightning in a bottle, they only made it even slightly big because in the long run they were busy establishing things, the reason people enjoyed Reddit and Memey was because they held one off stories that could be enjoyed, but also had underlying lore in almost each episode, with that taken away in 3 and 4 it gradually become more muddled and less enjoyable, Harmon thinks it's because of the way things are written, Justin straight up gave up I think, he hasn't been anywhere on Season 4's writing team. In spite of all this these people still can't release a consistent schedule and this will continue for another decade.Simply epic. But anyways what do you think about Reddit and Memey as it is now, if anything? Will the season finale hold anything of value or will the writers just ultra cuck the fans by having a whole season with no under lying story arc at all. Does any of this matter?
>>1553 They've made the show not matter. If there's no real overarching story & events don't matter then there's no point to be invested. There'll never be a real development for Rick or Morty. It's all just nonsense violence & reddit tier comedy without reason that they expect you to somehow be invested in. It's a mess of production.
In my uninformed opinion, the 'loose' writing style decision was a nuclear option to prevent WOKE takeover. Danny and Justin are SJWs of top caliber, but the show is still their project. Season 3's writers started the descent towards wokedom. Internal politics happened, plot adjusted, and now we get a disconnected style that's not very good but is less suceptible to overarching faggotry. I'm also going to be proven wrong and season 4 will end with a return to the woke train. Just because a producer grows a spine doesn't mean they can keep it for long
>>1555 (Checked.) I hope you're right but given that Justin straight up gave up it's unlikely.
>>1553 >Justin straight up gave up I think, he hasn't been anywhere on Season 4's writing team That's because he was busy with his own show on Hulu. >But anyways what do you think about Reddit and Memey as it is now, if anything? Hard to say, because I stopped watching mid-way through season two. Only episode that I liked was the one about ship battery. Other than that, they were pretty weak. Get Shwifty was idiotic, and the purge episode was just Dan Harmon having his small mind blown by a movie concept and insisting on lousily shoehorning it into the show. He did the same thing on Community with inception, and in season three of Rick and Morty with Fury Road from what I have seen. On what little bits and pieces of season three that I saw, show looks like it just continues to decline. Pickle Rick was especially stupid and obnoxious. >This makes sense because Dan Harmon said they'd be using a more loose writing style where the jokes make the plot and not the other way around. That's just a lazy Harmon excuse. He did not have troubles with some continuity in the first three seasons. There are twelve and a half more seasons of Rick and Morty that need to be made. Harmon gets lazy after first season of his shows, he can't stop himself from getting drunk from too long, nor can contain his obsession with meta-narratives and cynicism, Roiland is only doing voices at this point, and fanbase they grew is obsessed. Harmon realizes at least some of that, and "loose" writing style comment is just there to deflect criticism over fucking things up. It will work only for a time. Sooner or later show's overall quality will dip, and fanbase will turn on Harmon just like it did on GoT show creators.
Did Justin and Dan cuckout on the cuckout last second because they saw how much fans were trashing the new season or did Dan seriously think the pacing on the last episode was actually acceptable?
>>1554 >If there's no real overarching story & events don't matter then there's no point to be invested This is not about R&M but why should you have to be invested? Old Tom & Jerry or Looney Toons is great but that doesn't have an overarching story.
>>1582 Nigger you serious? T&J & Looney Tunes are slapstick comedy segments. They never pretend to have deep stories or moments you're supposed to take serious. Rick & Morty tries to have serious drama, serious character development, & serious consequences but then throws it all away in the same breath. That's the problem here. I'm not saying black comedy is bad. I'm saying actual development/drama shouldn't be there at all if it's not going to matter.

>>1582 >doesn't have an overarching story. The righteous cat must futilely attempt to destroy the cock-sucking invader mouse who routinely fucks him in the ass in his own home for the lulz. Tom can never stop Jerry, possibly because he's in Hell for past misdeeds and Jerry is the demonic sprite created to vex him. It's an overreaching Sisyphean arc that has lasted nearly a century, you plebeian.
The last consistently good season was 2. 3 was an absolute shitshow, and 4 is so far better than 3 but for all the wrong reasons. The episodic approach nuked the stakes but at least the show is consistently funny instead of having one funny joak across 3 episodes. I doubt its ever gonna get as good as season 1/2 throughout, but Im looking forward to the story relevant episode compilation about 8 seasons later.
Only Season 1 was worth a watch. They should've just ended it there or at least have Rick abandon that world entirely complete with leaving its Morty to die.
>>1553 What I do not get about the show is the whole science aspect of it. Based on the word of mouth I got the impression that it was actually somewhat heavy on scientific jargon but after watching it I have no idea where that even originated. There is not a single episode in the whole series that actually hinges on anything even remotely scientific. For all intends and purposes you could replace every "sciency" term in the series with magic and it would make just as much sense either way. In fact they sort of did exactly that in the slut dragon episode but somehow failed to grasp how perfectly describes the show as a whole.
>>3038 >What I do not get about the show is the whole science aspect of it. Based on the word of mouth I got the impression that it was actually somewhat heavy on scientific jargon but after watching it I have no idea where that even originated. It came from retards who did not hear about alternate realities prior to Rick and Morty. Rick and Morty is the "hardest" scifi they encountered in their life and that's why they think it is science heavy. Most of scientific elements in this show are just barebones window dressing to justify trippy visuals and wacky stuff happening. It really might as well be magic. I think that the multiple timeline episode with screen showing each one simultaneously is the hardest science-fiction you will get out of the show.
I think Community is instructive for this show. Dan Harmon has kind of a limited repertoire and it's apparent the Russo Brothers were a balancing factor in that show. When he did his solo season, it becomes obvious.

Based on the word of mouth I got the impression that it was actually somewhat heavy on scientific jargon but after watching it I have no idea where that even originated. =AHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHA= Nigga, are you fucking serious? Futurama has had an entire episode with an explanation of a mathematical formula for a brain switch (which they made with notes available if I recall) to any one of Dan Harmon's repetitive shitposts? Are you some millennial brat?
>>3049 I have no idea what this post is even trying to say.
>>3049 Did you even read the post you're replying to? He said he felt this show didn't actually have any science aspect to it, and he doesn't understand why the fans pretend it does.
>>3051 >>3054 He's making a point that doesn't answer the post he is responding to. However he's failed to make a cohesive point overall.
>>3049 >= Retard.
I never understood the appeal of this show. I got half way through season 1 and never bothered after that.
