Venture Bros cancelled 09/08/2020 (Tue) 00:38:29 No. 4931
There already were rumours going around, but now Jackson Publick has confirmed the sad news on his Twitter. RIP Venture Bros. https://twitter.com/jacksonpublick/status/1303102212193705985

FUCK
>show runs for almost two decades despite slow output >canceled quietly with no heads-up to let them create a proper send-off Something smells.

This better be a marketing gimmick for free advertising for season 8!
Im suprised it didn't happen sooner, it was always one of Adult Swims more expensive shows to produce. What do they have now to replace one of their anchor series though.
>>4935 I think this has something to do with Lazzo stepping down, I guess the new guy in charge decided that the old arrangement of giving Venture Bros as much time as they need to make a new season wasn't cost effective. As for the anchor series, how many original adult swim shows are even left? There's no ATHF, no Metalocalypse, I guess they're staking everything on Robot Chicken and Squidbillies? Oh and Reddit & Memey, can't forget that.
>>4935 I wouldn't be surprised to see Adult Swim do with Rick & Morty what Nickelodeon has done with Spongebob: keep churning out episodes every couple years and milking the cash cow while forgetting their past catalog.
>>4933 It's not unlike what happened with Metalocalpyse. It had its big musical, then got immediately shelved and presumably cancelled without any sort of conclusion. Seems like unless your show is extremely cheap or Rick and Morty levels of popular, they'll quietly cancel it as soon as they can.
>>4931 It was expensive to make & lasted 17 years through 7 seasons. What upsets me is that it took so long to actually build up a real story with questions & reveals. It was inevitable someone higher up would see it as a money sink for a niche audience when they have Rick & Morty appealing to the widest casual demographic.
Disappointing but not really surprising. Being owned by Warner who has a ton of debt to clear, being an expensive show and because of a seeming political shift like supporting BLM through Toonami, it was always on the chopping block any way you split it. I just didn't think it would be this soon. Are we going to have to rally to get a final season that takes over a decade to accomplish like with Samurai Jack?

>>4931 SHIT FUCKING SHIT This was one of the last great cartoons to be aired and if irc season 8 was supposed to be the last. There might be some hope, but I doubt it... >>4934 I feel ya anon, I'm both incredibly enraged and sadden by this news.
>>4931 >>4951 Not enough fat trans lesbian witches of color for current year I guess.
>>4952 >trans They made fun of them back when it was still alright... https://invidious.snopyta.org/watch?v=MhCdSpcOh9U It's not just the lack of SJW pandering, but mainly the high cost of the show plus AT&T merging and firing everyone they can.

Rip Venture Bros
Oh good, Adult Swim cancelled another long running series because it didn't immediately boom in popularity like they did with almost every single one of their other shows. And people wonder why television is dying.

>>4954 More updates, it seems Venture Bros might go to HBOMaxbut things are still uncertain... >>4955 Not at all, as long as Publick&Hammer are in charge >>4963 I don't think it's completely their fault seeing this tweet >>4951
>>4931 It was likely to happen given what's been going on at AT&T and Warnerbros. I am surprised that the show did not get cancelled even earlier, given how long breaks between seasons were. Fans are one thing, but execs tend to not be patient, especially in the entertainment industry. Venture Bros was an anomaly in western animation. >>4955 Probably not. There were fears that this would happen to the last two seasons, but the show was not affected. They even had Trump as a background cameo, without devolving into sperging or drawing too much attention to him for that matter. From what I have heard and seen, HBO is not as hands on as other networks, so they most likely won't push for inclusion of woke crap. Larry David was even allowed to lampoon the way LA people lose their minds out at the sight of MAGA hats and have "problematic" people like Vince Vaughn in his show. >>4965 Publick and Hammer were working on the show already, so it would be a shame to let this go to waste. HBOMax needs more content, and they are lacking in adult animation compared to their competitors. Worse, another service could possibly scoop up the show and turn it into a hit, like what Amazon did with The Expanse.
>>4981 >Worse, another service could possibly scoop up the show and turn it into a hit, like what Amazon did with The Expanse What do you mean by worse? Although Venture Bros have always been a niche show, it has quite big fanbase, I don't care if more normalfags would end up liking it. Or perhaps you mean someone would meddle in the production which in that case the creators would just leave.
>>4987 I mean that it would be worse form WB/HBO's perspective.
(148.03 KB 506x384 Go Team Venture!.gif)

>>4989 I see...as for The Expanse, I heard they got back through petition, now Venture Bros fans did the same >>4954 , I hope it would work out too. Venture Bros is one of the last (good) remnants of the 2000's and the last season ended on a cliffhanger, we must at least get a decent conclusion. GO TEAM VENTURE!
>>4931 FUCK >>4934 this vid for sure

>>4981 >Venture Bros was an anomaly in western animation. It really is. I used to watch it nearly a decade ago, and recently watched the whole thing. I'm genuinely surprised it was still going up until recently. I figured it would have been quietly dropped for being "problematic" something or other ages ago.
>>4953 >Hunter Gathers >the guy who trained Sampson >only person who could potentially take him in a fight I mean
Well, frankly, they were probably presented with some bullshit contract that forced them to give up their creative liberties to an offensive degree and denied it. I prefer this to the alternative: venture bros turns into a show like the simpsons that is a zombie of its former self.
>>4935 >>4937 Ever since Adult Swim caved in and cancelled World Peace, I've welcomed their demise. Fuck them, I wish things were the same as they were 10 years ago when they were producing good shit but they aren't. Hopefully someone comes along to replace them.
>>4931 >It ended with a cliffhanger In a similar state as the TF2 comics?
https://archive.ph/0ViSF Not all hope is lost. There are Venture Bros, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Metalocalypse movies in the works. <Metalocalypse >Movie follows the power-hungry Tribunal as they unveil their secret and deadly “Falconback Project”. This is against a backdrop of a world which is growing embattled in chaos with the menacing Doomstar breaching the Earth’s atmosphere. Meanwhile, the mysterious and twisted dissent of a band member threatens the future of Dethklok. Picking up directly after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth: Can Dethklok choose between their egos and the greater good of the world to embark on a gauntlet of dangers that will try their very souls and finally write the song that will be their salvation? <Venture Bros >In the The Venture Bros. movie, Doc’s latest invention will either bankrupt the Ventures or launch them to new heights, as Hank searches for himself, Dean searches for Hank, The Monarch searches for answers, and a mysterious woman from their pasts threatens to bring their entire world crashing down on them. <Aqua Teen Hunger Force >Movie will be a continuation of the hit animated series, whereby fans will find out what happens next with Frylock, Meatwad and Master Shake, who consider themselves crime fighters, but the truth is they never fight crime.
>>12840 Do you think they'll be able to conclude Venture Bros in movie instead of a new season? I fear it will be rushed.
>>5128 Man, I would stick my dick into every one of her orifices. Anyone else find it weird how one stops noticing Dr. Mrs. The Monarch's voice after about two episodes? It's like the sexual attraction enjoyment of the character and the weirdness of the show's setting combine to just accept that her voice is that of a chain-smoking teamster named Leon. I think I'd find her less appealing without it, at this point.
>>12862 FUCK! That last one was supposed to be spoilered. Sorry, folks.
>>9201 They had one episode that finished it, but it was unsatisfying as hell.

>>12862 It's because Dr. Girlfriend/Mrs. The Monarch is a well written female character and despite her voice she is very feminine both in her behavior and her looks. She's easily one of my favorite female characters, I do prefer her Dr. Girlfriend look more.
