Don Bluth looking to bring back 2D animation Anonymous 09/12/2020 (Sat) 20:46:33 No. 5027
Don Bluth teams up with Lavalle Lee to bring back hand-drawn animation. The first project will be Bluth Fables, which will see Bluth writing, narrating and drawing out short nursery rhymes in a storybook style. The Studio will be very transparent of the progress behind it as it goes. https://archive.is/EEtM7 I'm exciting but also sad at the same time since this is another showcase of the older generation picking up the slack for the younger one. The guy is 82 (about to be 83 tomorrow) and he won't be around forever. Will he inspire the newer generation to follow in his footsteps or will they be inspired by modern cartoons which have taught you to be lazy animators with a calarts style, treat cartoons as a therapy for your own issues, use cartoons to insult your fans if they don't agree with any of your opinions, cater to shippers because story be damn, make self inserts for your own ships and never striving to push the medium forward? They also have to deal with the possible gatekeeping in place if they want to go mainstream. I do wish for a renaissance of hand-drawn animation but I suspect it will be a one-off to the average viewer. I'm hoping I'm wrong because I want more of this instead of relying on foreign countries to fill in the position that America left behind.

It's great to see some 2D animation back, although it's going to be slightly neutered for current year generation. Also, it's been over a year since Richard Williams died, and there's not much else that can teach like him.
Didn't Bluth cuck out when he made his Dragon's Lair campaign and talk about how they were going to be much more conservative in Daphne's portrayal?
>>5030 it may have been the result of tragic compromise I know one of the women who worked on the original animations and she objected to altering her

I hope he succeeds in his endeavors despite the current state of animation in the United States. At the very least he'll go out dying doing what he loves. In that case I hope his last work winds up being decent at the very least.
>>5030 May have been industry suits, you know how bad things are in this industry.
>>5027 >Will he inspire the newer generation to follow in his footsteps or will they be inspired by modern cartoons which have taught you to be lazy animators with a calarts style, treat cartoons as a therapy for your own issues, use cartoons to insult your fans if they don't agree with any of your opinions, cater to shippers because story be damn, make self inserts for your own ships and never striving to push the medium forward? You know it will be the latter. There is literally no market left for quality. We are the last generation who will appreciate this shit.
>>5140 Nigger the market for quality is why everyone went to Japan for animation & comics. They're all focused primarily on those mediums. Don't be such a black pill. Even if the western animation industry is naturally a sad state.
Don won't live long enough to make this happen sadly, he's so fucking old. Should have done this like 15 years ago.
>>5202 Shit wasn't nearly as bad 15 years ago.
>>5131 Who is he? I rarely know good animators as of now since most artists use the fucking gravity falls style type of shit, which went boring real fast with regular show.
>>5226 Exactly the point. That's when things started to go awry and he and others like Richard Williams (RIP) should have dragged their asses out of retirement to support the medium. Not wait 20 years until it's all been fucked into dirt with no chance of recovery. Instead of sitting on their asses and crying about muh good old days, all the high profile Yidsney animators should have worked with some smaller studio across the globe still willing to produce hand drawn animation. In a way that's no different to Bluth's opposition to the Mouse in the 80s. But they just gave up and went to pick up scraps at the 3D scene table - "Oh please massah, I will draw you some keyframes that you can just copy in 3D. You don't even have to credit me, I just need a job to feed my kids!"
>>5227 Nigger how are you on /co/ and don't know who Don Bluth is? How new can you be. He's about as legendary as they come. That's like asking who Steven Spielberg is on /tv/.
I legit don't know who this guy is. I tend to stay away from westren media besides a few that I think are still worthy, but most nowdays are the same boring ass shows and along with SJW agenda narrative shit..
>>5027 >>5028 >narrating and drawing out short nursery rhymes in a storybook style If it's going to look like that simplistic shit it's not even gonna be a blip on the radar. The only thing that can bring hand-drawn animation back is some lush Disney renaissance style colorful epic. By this point notmalniggers are tired of identical looking 3D films and traditional animation would look like a breath of fresh air to talk about at the watercooler. Also, now that "live action" remakes of actual Disney films are generally hated, a film in vein of renaissance would be celebrated by nostalgia manchildren and soy golems alike.
>>5243 >I legit don't know who this guy is. Then stop posting and lurk more.
>>5243 >nowadays Don Bluth was most notable in the '80s. Secret of NIMH, Land Before Time, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Dragon's Lair, Space Ace.

>>5141 Not disagreeing or agreeing with what you said, but >black pill does not mean pessimism/negativity, and neither does "white pill" mean optimism/positivity, electionfag. Besides the fact they've existed as jokes before you people changed them to be more "serious" as slang, don't you realize how lazy and normalfag-ish that line of reasoning is, that black = bad/negative, white = good/positive, and that "being negative" should always be avoided? I apologize for the off-topic post, but 2016-fags severely underestimate the power of language on the mind.
>>5240 I mean no offense, but you come off a bit like you're making baseless assumptions about people you know nothing about personally, which is probably because that's what you're doing. At the very least a memoir PDF or something would be helpful, and that way we know your conclusion is actually evidenced-based, even if it's wrong.
>>5462 Are you retarded or something?
