Addams Family Anonymous 10/08/2020 (Thu) 19:55:50 No. 5817
A sequel to the Addams Family animated film was announced. Was the first one even any good?

>>5817 Didn't watch the first one, but the trailer made it look as dumbed-down and shitty as possible. I doubt there's any redeeming qualities. We could have had Henry Sellick Addams Family. It would have been perfect. Instead we got this. Two of them now. Fuck this.
>>5818 I unfortunately saw the first movie. Thankfully not in theaters. It's irredeemably bad. It's incredibly generic. Absolutely done by the numbers by a bunch of out of touch executives in a corporate boardroom who think they're hip. It's a very generic "be yourself" message/story with terribly annoying voice acting from Nick Kroll, ugly ugly side/background characters, horrible music, horrible remixes, & finally just doesn't feel like Addams Family. Like the whole joke is that they're a loving family who just view the macabre & bizarre as normal. In this movie though they're blatantly dangerous outsiders who isolated themselves from the world but that's okay because they're being themselves. Just watch the 2 live action movies if you want a modern take on the characters. Apparently the original live action series is good too but I never watched it.
Kind of forgot about it. Did originally planned to watch it but just didn't for some reason. I guess it did better than it should've. Made 200 million on a 24 million budget. Even when you cut marketing and theaters cut, that is still a good chunk of money. Not surprised it's getting a sequel because with the back and forth of studios and theaters pushing for new releases or delaying them, and the forced pandemic making it hard to do live action anything on a good schedule, cartoons and animation are getting backed heavily right now. Might as well give a sequel to a dud animated movie if it at least made money.
Ugh, the first one was awful. Made by people who had no clue what made the Addams family interesting. Of course it gets a sequel.
>>5817 >>5818 The movie is... average, not bad not good either, the plot is predictable, it's just average. Something that I really appreciate is that they did a really good job at adapting the comicbook characters to CGI format, something that I've seen very rarely nowadays, this is weird since other characters are fucking horrible both in design and animation, but the family is fairly impressive by comparison.
