>Ridley got in and they called him "captain america" because nintnedo actually listened to western fans for once, so it isn't impossible
Westerners got a few characters they (and only they) wanted with Ultimate, there is Banjo and K. Rool as well I'd also mention Steve, but I recall seeing indications that Minecraft has done well in Japan
. I don't see Nintendo closing on something that doesn't play well to their home crowd. I didn't imply it was impossible, but I think Doomguy is highly unlikely because it has so many reasons why it doesn't play well there.
>[regarding Digimon] it really doesn't matter if you personally don't care or not, its up to nintendo.
True, but what Nintendo wants is neither what you want nor what I want (nor even necessarily what Sakurai wants). I believe their preferences are announcements that will draw outside interest and/or promote a current (or upcoming in the near-future) product. Digimon's fanbase are primarily millennials who were into the Pokemon (and assorted knockoff) craze into the 90's, the prime demographic to be Meleefags or Brawlfags. The Venn Diagram between the Pokemon audience and the Digimon audience is likely a huge circle and a little circle mostly inside it with a bit of its edge sticking on the outside. I don't think they represent an audience that wouldn't ordinarily be buying Smash. They get games pretty regularly now, but they've been primarily for Sony systems. You could say the same consideration was true for Snake when he got in Brawl, but that was famously as a result of personal networking between Kojima and Sakurai and was consequently a special circumstance.
>Is [bringing in yet another company] a problem?
The logistics of Smash are mind-boggling. If Dark Souls representation would require input from From Soft (I believe it likely would), that means bringing another team of lawyers into the mix, negotiating another deal, and getting everything just right with new people involved who have no familiarity with the workings of the Smash team. It is certainly not impossible for the next character to be from a company with no prior involvement in Smash, but for anything that makes the process more complicated, the juice needs to be worth the squeeze. Perhaps it is with Dark Souls, but I'm not sure.
>Sepheroth is gay. Raiden is fucking badass and it seems like you never played metal gear rising, which is indeed, hype as fuck. You should give it a try its an amazing game.
I'm not disputing that Sephiroth is gay, but he's also the kind of character that energizes the gamer culture faggots. I don't personally hold FF7 in high regard (and the remake's handling of Sephiroth was awful), but he is undeniably a draw in terms of attracting interest to the game. Raiden failed to attract interest to PlayStation All-stars Battle Royale much more proximately to the release of Metal Gear Rising. You could say there were problems with that game, but it does not seem like he did much to boost fan interest or drive sales. Now that the game has dust on it and the meme of pretending that Rules of Nature is a good song is dead and buried, I don't see Raiden getting in Smash.
Are you serious. Like do you have 100% faith behind those words? Have you never played Bayonetta or MGS which both involve lots of blood violence and fucking literal torture at some points? Bayo has this woman damn near butt ass naked near half of the damn time ffs. Not to mention some character announcement trailers where they get killed in incredibly violent ways, you think smash is made for kindergarteners or some shit?
I feel like an edgy 12 year old wrote this. MGS is distinguishable because it's a fundamentally goofy series about absurd super soldiers saying hammy dialogue about politics a thousand times more complicated than its scriptwriters can comprehend and Sakurai famously drafted Snake's moveset to include nothing that would be readily available to children, hence the exclusion of knives and more common styles of gun from his moveset (which incidentally makes him a more fun and interesting character, anyway). Bayonetta is as absurd as anything in MGS or perhaps moreso, which makes it relatively safer to give her the ridiculous pistol-shoes she has as that cannot be imitated. Regarding nudity, this is cucked Smash. Melee and Brawl allowed players to see up Princess Zelda and Peach's skirts with impunity using the game's pause function. We live in the black void era where all sexuality is censored to the point where Sakurai broke the KOF fanbase's biggest rule with the KOF stage: no Mai no buy.
The consideration is less so about the content of their game's stories (irrelevant to Smash) and moreso about what the character can do that Sakurai is concerned children could imitate. If a similar moveset restriction were applied to a Resident Evil protagonist as was applied to Snake, what could they do that would justify their inclusion? What could they bring? The rocket launcher is a staple of the series so that's a given, but what else would they bring to the table and how would it be distinct from Snake? All I could think of is Sakurai dropping that consideration in favor of moveset variety, but I don't think a guns character would actually be fun to play as in Smash.
